Making Green Smoothies

Would you ever put spinach in your smoothie?  I did and it was GOOD!!  Baby spinach has a mild taste and is mostly masked by the sweet fruit. Below are some pics of our Green Smoothie morning (my husband is giving bunny ears to my blender…goofball!).  Putting greens in smoothies is so good for your body and a great way to get vegetables in your diet.  My kids love the smoothies too.  I’ve been enjoying them almost every morning for breakfast.  I’m going to try to experiment with other greens sometime soon (there are many recipes online).

So, here’s how I made it:  grab the blender, add a handful of frozen strawberries, handful of blueberries (this makes the smoothie a dark purple instead of green), 1/2 apple, 1 frozen banana, handful of fresh baby spinach, ice cubes, fill the container half way with water, blend up and serve.  I basically just use any fruits I have around and the base is water.  You could also use milk, soy milk, almond milk and so on.  The blender I use is a massive powerhouse.  I purchased it about two years ago and it’s still kickin’ like new.  It’s called a Vita-mix.  You can find out more info on the right sidebar.  It’s a bit spendy, but worth it!  Related Post: Summer Fruit Smoothie
